Cascade opened as a junior high in 1963 and underwent various minor remodels before undergoing an "extreme make-over" as it opened as a smaller middle school in the fall of 2005.  Despite the many changes over the years, Cascade has maintained a focus on academic excellence and engaging student activities.

Students at Cascade come from many of the district's elementary schools and make up a student body of about 475 students in grades 6-8.  At each grade, the staff considers the developmental needs of middle schoolers in designing programs and activities that reach a wide range of interests and performance levels.
